ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW

Some of the greatest inventions are the simplest ones, and this statement holds true for the latest product development to come from FAUN Trackway.

Through the addition of a simple centring strip to our MLC (Medium Load Classification) 70 Trackway, users are able to ensure they are travelling along the middle of the temporary roadway.

The adaptation follows feedback from one of our clients, who mentioned that in adverse weather conditions such as very sandy or snowy environments, the edges of the Trackway could become covered, making it difficult to gauge a vehicle’s position on the matting.

Our design engineers came up with an intermittent central marker added at the end of every 5m interlocking aluminium panel that will stop drivers from straying too far to the edge.

With only a small amendment in the manufacturing process, the result is added value for the customer at no extra cost.

Engineering Supervisor, Gareth Williams, said: “Listening to feedback from our clients, we have been able to respond to their needs with a small, effective adaption to a proven product, helping them to keep on track and further aiding their mobility.”

Product Range:

Portable roadway systems

• Heavy Ground Mobility System (HGMS) deploys, recovers, transports and stores up to 100m of MLC 70 roadway, which can withstand repeated loads of tracked and wheeled vehicles up to 70 tonnes (MLC 70). 50m is laid by two men in less than 6 minutes.
• Medium Ground Mobility System (MGMS) deploys, recovers, transports and stores up to 40m of MLC 30 roadway, which can withstand repeated loads of tracked and wheeled vehicles up to 30 tonnes (MLC 30). 40m is laid by two men in less than 6 minutes.
• Vehicle Recovery Mat (VRM) is deployed by hand to recover bogged down vehicles fast. It comprises two aluminium mats and is reusable.

Aviation systems

• Rapid Runway Repair (RRR) consists of MLC 70 Trackway mats and patches that enable damaged runways to be repaired so that flying operations can be quickly resumed after enemy attack. RRR is vital in the Airfield Damage Repair (ADR) process.
• Aircraft Landing Mat (ALM) is an expedient runway in kit form that enables temporary airfields to be constructed quickly and easily.
